Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD is a condition where individuals experience intrusive, distressing thoughts (obsessions) and feel compelled to perform certain behaviors or rituals (compulsions) to relieve the anxiety caused by these thoughts. While these behaviors might offer short-term relief, they often reinforce the cycle and interfere with daily life.

Common obsessions include fears of contamination, harming others, or making a mistake, while compulsions may involve repetitive cleaning, checking, counting, or arranging.

OCD can affect people of all ages and is often misunderstood. At Afe Behavioral, we offer specialized treatment that includes Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — the gold standard for OCD — along with supportive counseling and medication when needed. Our goal is to empower clients to confront and reduce obsessions and compulsions so they can live more freely.
